Fill out the FAFSA right from your phone — the FAFSA mobile app (myStudentAid) is now available! You may download the myStudentAid app from both the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). The myStudentAid mobile app provides the following features:
The 2021-2022 FAFSA cycle began on October 1, 2020. The application is available until June 30, 2022. The income information needed to complete the FAFSA can be found on your 2019 tax return. The IRS DRT (Data Retrieval Tool) is available for the 2021-22 FAFSA cycle. Tax return information transferred from the IRS into the FAFSA now has stronger security and privacy protections.
The 2022-23 FAFSA cycle will begin on October 1, 2021. Please consider using the “myStudent Aid” app (the FAFSA mobile app) to complete or renew your FAFSA. The income needed to complete the FAFSA can be found on your 2020 tax return.
The Department of Education and the Internal Revenue Service have partnered together so that students and families can retrieve their tax data directly from the IRS when completing the FAFSA.
We recommend you utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Process.  If you are selected for verification, in many cases you will not have to submit copies of tax transcripts before your financial aid eligibility is finalized.
When using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool you must enter your name and address EXACTLY (upper/lower case) as it appears on your tax return. The USPS may have updated your address to be postal compliant (ie. Street will be updated to ST).
If you already filed your FAFSA but did not use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you may do so at www.fafsa.gov.  After entering your identifying information, click on “Make FAFSA Corrections” located in the middle of the page.

Continuing in the 2021-22 aid year, the Financial Aid Office will not be sending paper Financial Aid Notifications (FANs) to upper-class continuing and readmitted students.
Students will receive an email in mid-late June when their Financial Aid Package is available for review via myCU. Depending on the types of aid in the Financial Aid Package, a student may need to take further action before the package is finalized.
IMPORTANT NOTE:  If the financial aid package includes Federal Direct Loans and/or a Clarkson Loan, the loans will not be processed until the student has either Accepted, Declined, or Reduced the loan(s) and submitted the response online in the Financial Aid section of myCU. Loans offered, but not accepted, will not appear as anticipated aid on the student account.
We have created two guides to assist you with this process – Guide to Understanding Your Financial Aid Package and Viewing Your Financial Aid in myCU.
You will receive an email notification when the initial package is created and each time a revision is made to the package.
If you have questions, please contact your Student Achievement Specialist at 315.268.6451.  Undergraduate students may email sas@clarkson.edu and graduate students may email sasgrad@clarkson.edu for assistance.
We understand that higher education is a substantial financial commitment and our staff is dedicated to helping you and your family afford the education you deserve. Students at Clarkson receive various types of federal, state, and university aid including grants, scholarships, loans, and work study. Nine out of ten students at Clarkson receive some form of financial aid.
