Premium sales continued momentum in first half of 2022.Graphic with the words "premium domains"
Top level domain registry Radix has revealed its premium sales data for the first half of 2022, and it’s up and to the right.
The company estimates that registrars pulled in $3.82 million from selling its premium inventory in the six months ending June 2022. It’s an estimate because it doesn’t always know how much markup the registrars added to its wholesale prices.
This is up from $2.98 million in the second half of last year and $2.91 million in the first half of 2021.
$2.5 million of the half’s total was from renewals. Radix uses the high-high model for premium domains; domains are more costly than non-premium domains for both the initial registration and renewals.
Renewal revenue increased 38% compared to the second half of last year.
.Tech continues to lead Radix’s charts. 441 new premium .tech domains were registered for $390,000 in the half. That’s up from 332 and $335,000 in the second half of last year. And .tech is tops for renewal revenue, too.
GoDaddy and Namecheap are the top two registrars for Radix’s premium domains.
About 40% of premium domain registrations were three letter domains.
Radix reports that 87% of premium domains entering their third or subsequent renewal period are renewed.

Radix seems to have a clear headed strategy for their gTLDs from the start.

Couple of weeks ago, you reported that domain sales are down and this prove that your data is wrong.
My sales has gone up and this is going to be a great year in sales.
