Red states have a lot of congressional districts that either have Dem representatives, or that the Dems figure they might be able to flip. So, they need to bribe those people, too, not just the ones in blue states.
It’s not a bribe if you are doing things for constituents. It’s not a “special interest” if it’s the majority of voters. The purpose is supposed to be to do stuff for the majority of VOTERS and democracy will do best because it has a bias for the majority instead of a handful of elites. Sure, it’s tyranny of the majority when it works – and that is good but we have to worry so much “about the children” etc as a smokescreen far too often so tiny tiny minorities subvert democracy. The problems we have today

Good thing the US is a republic and not just a true democracy.
This allows us to avoid the tyranny of the majority and give the minority a voice in
You can look at pre- and post-Inflation Reduction Act by area of focus to see how priorities have changed. Pre- what you have are federal subsidies for wind and solar. Post-IRA expands these but goes in big on battery technology, EVs, and developing domestic supply chains.
Democrat party priorities haven’t changed, this is the same “Meatloaf energy” plan they’ve had for the last 50 years. What makes this a “Meatloaf energy” plan? They will do anything for energy, but they won’t do that .
I noticed that after Andrew Yang made a lot of noise about nuclear power the Democrat party appeared to make some changes to their stance on nuclear power. For the last 50 years, give or take, their national party platform document has been flipping back and forth between open hostility to
First of all the name of the party is the *Democratic Party*.
Second of all the IRA contains 40 billion dollars of loan guarantees that the nuclear industry can appy for — if anyone out there is actually interested in building a new nuclear plant, tax credits nuclear plant developers can apply for, and $850 million earmarked for nuclear power research projects.

If they do apply then would they actually get the loan? I have my doubts.
I recall an interview recently with someone from the US federal government office responsible for approving these loans and he said a few nice things about nuclear power, but until they actually release funds this is theoretical. I don’t recall Biden saying anything in his own voice in support of nuclear power, only people speaking on his behalf which doesn’t carry the same weight. Granholm has said some nice things about nuclear p
It’s legislation. You can’t assume what’s on the label is in the tin, you have to pay attention.

Throw money at it…. Where is the new national power grid. Where are the ultra high voltage interconnects? Where is the distributed storage?
My culdesac has five houses and a 60 kW transformer. How many of us can have fast chargers? You can generate as much solar as you like in the desert southwest, so long as you us it in less than 200 miles. The same is true of wind power on the plains. You can put in as much offshore wind as you like in the north east, but is there any plan for calm days?
